Skin Rejuvenation

We offer several very effective ways to help you look your best:

  • PhotoRejuvenation is a series of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments that improve the appearance of Rosacea, flushing and sun-damaged skin, age spots, skin texture, and photoaging. Treatment also improves the appearance of mild acne scars, reduces large pores, corrects dark circles around the eyes, and reduces fine lines. Additionally, this exhilarating treatment involves little to no 'downtime.'
  • During an MD Peel™ treatment, the handpiece gently traces over your skin, delivering sterile micro-crystals that gently exfoliate your skin. Simultaneously, a vacuum whisks away the exfoliated skin and excess crystal, making your face smoother.
  • Chemical peels are topically applied acids that aid in the restoration and rejuvenation of the skin's surface. They create a uniform and controlled shedding of several layers of the skin. Depending on the nature and depth of the peel, a significant number of layers can be exfoliated, allowing new growth to be exposed, and creating a fresh, vibrant appearance.

Wrinkle Reduction

We have many ways to minimize the appearance of wrinkles, from lotions and creams to lasers and treatments such as Botox® and Restylane®.

Here is a summary of the ways we can help.

Botox®

A Botox® Cosmetic treatment is a simple, non-surgical procedure that smoothes the deep, persistent lines between your brows that developed over time. One ten-minute treatment - a few tiny injections - relaxes the muscles that cause those lines to form and keeps them relaxed up to four months. The results are dramatic and apparent within days. In clinical trials, nearly 90% of men and women rated the improvement in their brow lines as moderate to better. For many, Botox® Cosmetic virtually "erases" these lines.

BOTOX® COSMETIC

Everybody is talking about Botox® Cosmetic, the highly effective non-surgical procedure that dramatically reduces your most challenging wrinkle within seven days and lasts up to four months.

SO WHAT IS BOTOX® COSMETIC?

Unlike surgery, Botox® Cosmetic is fast, simple, and minimally invasive, with no downtime or recovery. Most people return directly to work or regular activity following treatment. Within days, they report looking more natural and relaxed.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM BOTOX® COSMETIC:

Your doctor will determine where to administer several tiny injections to achieve the best results. No anesthesia is required, although they may choose to numb the area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream before injecting. The entire procedure takes approximately ten minutes. Discomfort is minimal and brief - most patients compare the sensation to a bug bite. It is unlikely you will develop significant side effects, although some people develop slight temporary bruising at the injection site, which can easily be covered by makeup. You may resume regular activity immediately. Within days you'll see a marked improvement which may continue to improve for as long as a week and should last up to four months.

Restylane®

Restylane® is a long-lasting cosmetic filler that dramatically improves the appearance of facial lines, wrinkles, and folds. This is a non-surgical solution to soften facial lines and wrinkles, restore volume and fullness to the skin, plump up lips, and fill in scars. Restylane® injected into the lips can give back fullness to lips that have receded. The cosmetic results are immediately visible, bestowing you with a more youthful and invigorated look.

DRAMATICALLY SMOOTHER SKIN WITHOUT SURGERY:

Facial lines and wrinkles are caused by a gradual breakdown of the body's collagen and the elastin fibers in the skin. No one is immune from experiencing this normal aging process. Squinting, frowning, and smiling also inflict stress on the underlying collagen in the skin and accelerate the formation of these furrows. Until recently, injectable collagen was the most widely used cosmetic filler to improve the appearance of these lines.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF A RESTYLANE® TREATMENT?

  • Immediately you will discern a smoothing of the wrinkles and folds
  • Restylane® will impart lift and a new firmness to your skin
  • With lip enhancement, the results will be a noticeably fuller and more sensuous contour
  • You don't need to be tested for skin sensitivity
  • The cosmetic results are visible immediately, bestowing you with a more youthful and invigorated look
  • When the effect of the treatment begins to diminish, you can replenish the area as needed

WHAT IS THE TREATMENT LIKE?

Restylane® is injected in small amounts under your skin to fill creases, lines, wrinkles, or folds. It is also injected around the lip area to create volume, resulting in a more youthful appearance. A skin test is not necessary prior to treatment, so treatment can be performed at any time. In order to optimize your comfort, the treatment area may be anesthetized with a topical cream or anesthetic block. Treatment results are immediately evident.

HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS LAST?

Depending on many factors, such as your lifestyle, age, and skin structure, your results may last as long as six months to a year or more. You may require a touch-up treatment 2-4 weeks after the first treatment to achieve your desired result. Treatment to enhance the lips is reported to last much longer than standard collagen filler treatment. When the effect of the treatment begins to diminish, you can replenish the area as needed.

HOW IS RESTYLANE® DIFFERENT FROM COLLAGEN?

Restylane® has been demonstrated to last much longer than the standard bovine collagen injection. The occurrence of an allergic reaction is extremely rare due to the product's non-animal associated basis. Unlike injectable collagen filler made of bovine protein, which can cause an allergic reaction in some patients, Restylane® is a natural substance, hyaluronic acid, which is a sugar molecule already present naturally in the human body. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane® is similar to that found throughout your body, giving the skin volume and fullness. It is both biodegradable and compatible with human hyaluronic acid. Because of this compatibility, you don't need to be tested for skin sensitivity.

Sculptra®

WHAT IS SCULPTRA®?

Sculptra® is injected into the skin for restoration and/or correction of facial fat loss signs. Sculptra® is a synthetic injectable material known as "poly-L-lactic acid." It is biocompatible (a material that does not harm the body) and biodegradable (able to be broken down by the body). It has also been widely used in dissolvable stitches, soft tissue implants, and other types of implants.

HOW LONG DO SCULPTRA® TREATMENT RESULTS LAST?

Treatment results will differ for each person. In a clinical study, treatment results lasted up to 2 years after the first treatment session in most patients. Touch-up treatments may be needed to maintain the desired effect.

ARE THE RESULTS FROM SCULPTRA® IMMEDIATE?

At the first treatment visit, it may appear that Sculptra® worked immediately because of swelling from the injections and the water used to dilute Sculptra®. In a few days, when the swelling goes down, and the body absorbs water, the treated area may look as it did before treatment. Sculptra® takes time to gradually correct depressions in the skin.

HOW MANY SCULPTRA® TREATMENTS ARE REQUIRED?

The number of treatment sessions and the amount of Sculptra® needed at each session will differ for each person. Patients with moderate facial fat loss may require three treatment sessions with at least two weeks between sessions. Patients with severe facial fat loss may require 4 to 5 treatment sessions with at least two weeks between sessions.

Lasers

PhotoRejuvenation is a series of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments that improve the appearance of Rosacea, flushing and sun-damaged skin, age spots, skin texture, and photoaging. Treatment also improves the appearance of mild acne scars, reduces large pores, corrects dark circles around the eyes, and reduces fine lines.

Age Spots

Also known as 'sun spots,' these brownish spots appear on your face and body as a result of overexposure to the sun. The more your skin is exposed to the sun, the more spots will develop, regardless of age. As you probably already know, tanning is not healthy and will also lead to premature wrinkles.

How do we treat them?

The best way to treat age spots is with lasers. The process is simple and generally causes the spots to disappear completely. Any pain is minimal and brief.

How long does a treatment session take?

Depending on the number of treatment areas, the process can take 10 to 30 minutes.

Melasma

Millions of women suffer from this skin condition. They feel embarrassed, unattractive, and old. Many use cosmetics to cover their dark, brown spots and do not know that there is a prescription medicine that can fade their melasma!

What exactly is melasma?

Melasma is a natural darkening of the skin caused by excessive production of melanin - the pigment that causes your skin to tan. The sun, which increases melanin production, usually makes your melasma worse. Melasma only occurs on the areas of your skin that are exposed to the sun.

What treatments are available to fade my melasma?

Fortunately, you don't have to live with melasma. Different prescription and over-the-counter products can be used alone or in combination to treat melasma. And there is a triple-combination product that your dermatologist can prescribe to lighten your moderate to severe melasma quickly.

Tri-Luma® Cream is a unique medicine because it combines three effective ingredients into one formula, giving you a single, once-a-day product to put on your face at bedtime.

Spider Veins

Spider veins are small dilated blood vessels near the surface of the skin. They can develop anywhere on the body but are commonly seen on the face and the legs.

Chemical Peels

What is a chemical peel?

Chemical peels are topically applied acids that aid in the restoration and rejuvenation of the skin's surface. They create a uniform and controlled shedding of several layers of the skin. Depending on the nature and depth of the peel, a significant number of layers can be exfoliated, allowing new growth to be exposed, and creating a fresh, vibrant appearance.

What are the benefits?

Chemical peels can enhance your appearance by reducing blotchy and uneven pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, freckling, age spots, sun-damaged skin, and acne scars in a relatively brief measure of time. Chemical peels accelerate the production of new cells. Enjoy fresh, smooth skin - immediately after your first treatment.

Are there any side effects?

Chemical peels have become increasingly popular because of the array of advantages and relative lack of complications. Side effects are rare and usually temporary. Some side effects include uneven pigmentation, redness, and infrequent scarring if the skin is not cared for appropriately. Sun protection is crucial to minimize the risk of side effects. A treatment program of individually suited products and sun protection will benefit your skin's ability to maintain the peel results. You can decrease the likelihood of side effects by carefully following your doctor's instructions.

Types of Chemical Peels

  • Superficial Peel - This peel is designed to help smoothen coarse, dry skin, improve the texture of sun-damaged skin, and even skin tone. The recovery is generally rapid and usually involves some minor flaking. A series of treatments is ordinarily recommended to obtain the desired result over some time. Typically there is no downtime, and with appropriate sun protection, you can resume regular activities immediately.
  • Medium Peel - This peel contains a stronger potency of acids. Medium peels target the epidermis and upper dermis and cause the skin to slough within 5 to 7 days. Immediately after treatment, the skin has a red appearance and is occasionally accompanied by swelling. Within a day, the skin turns brown, and after 3 or 4 days, the skin initiates the peeling process.
  • Deep Peel - This peel produces the most dramatic results. It is recommended for treating wrinkles, scars, blemishes, and, in some cases, precancerous skin lesions. A deep peel targets the dermis. In some cases, anesthesia is required during the procedure to reduce the warm-to-hot stinging sensation. After a deep peel, the skin is red and can result in swelling and blistering. A crust may form, and the skin will turn brown before peeling. Many layers of the skin will peel throughout one to two weeks. An ointment may be given to keep the area moist. Temporarily, the new skin will have the color and sensation of significant sunburn, gradually fading to your normal skin color.

Vitalize Peel

The Vitalize Peel from Skin Medica brings the benefits of alpha-hydroxy acids to provide a strong but gentle formulation. Even after one peel, you will notice an improvement in your skin's texture and tone, lessening fine lines, and a healthier, more youthful appearance. Dramatic results are achieved with a series of peels. The Vitalize Peel has been clinically proven to help pigmentation problems (such as age spots) fade and stimulate collagen production. The Vitalize Peel is safe and effective for all skin types.
